  • What happens if a jacket order fails inspection?
    A failed jacket inspection holds the shipment and starts a documented disposition: defects are classified as critical, major, or minor, the report is reviewed within one to two business days, and the lot is reworked, partly replaced, accepted with a price adjustment, or cancelled. Rework runs three to seven days, re-inspection follows within 24 to 48 hours, cost follows cause, and a second failure on the same defect class escalates to full sorting, lot replacement, or cancellation.
  • How does Chinese New Year affect jacket production schedules?
    Chinese New Year compresses jacket production into the weeks before the holiday. Around February 6, 2027, fabric mills wind down in early January, jacket factories stop new bulk starts in mid-January, close for two to four weeks, and ramp up slowly after reopening. The effective schedule loss is five to six weeks. Order by late October 2026 for pre-holiday delivery, or early December 2026 for March delivery.
  • What is the difference between waterproof and water-resistant jackets?
    Waterproof jackets block liquid water under pressure through a rated membrane or coating with taped seams and protected closures, while water-resistant jackets only slow surface wetting through a DWR finish or tight weave and have no sealed seams. The difference is tested pressure plus complete construction, so buyers should specify the hydrostatic head, the taping scope and the test method in the purchase order, then confirm them with a shower and blot test on the sample.
  • What does fill power mean in a down jacket?
    Fill power measures the loft of down: the cubic inches one ounce fills under a standard test load. Higher fill power means larger clusters and more warmth per gram, but real warmth depends on fill power multiplied by fill weight, then shaped by baffle construction. Typical commercial specs run 550 to 900. Specify the test standard, fill weight in grams, cluster ratio and RDS traceability, then verify the incoming lot.
