Canton Fair 2026 Autumn: What Outerwear Buyers Should Watch
Canton Fair 2026 Autumn: What Outerwear Buyers Should Watch
The 140th Canton Fair runs from 15 October to 4 November 2026 in Guangzhou, across three phases. Outerwear buyers need Phase 3, which opens on 31 October and carries men's and women's wear, children's wear, underwear, sportswear and casual wear. The apparel halls are where shell fabrics, fill specs, trims and capacity windows can be compared in a single week before AW2027 booking closes.
This autumn's session is the 140th edition and marks 70 years since the fair began in 1957. Exhibition space is around 1.55 million square metres. For a jacket brand, the useful question is not whether to attend, but which days to book and what to bring.
Phase 1 (15-19 October) is built around advanced manufacturing, Phase 2 (23-27 October) covers consumer and household lines, and Phase 3 (31 October - 4 November) is the apparel and textiles block. If your calendar only allows one trip, aim it at Phase 3. Timing also lines up with the AW2027 booking window described in our Q4 2026 jacket sourcing outlook.
The 2026 Autumn Session at a Glance
| Phase | Dates | Relevance to outerwear |
|---|---|---|
| Phase 1 | 15-19 October 2026 | Advanced manufacturing; machinery and components |

Dates are the published schedule for the 140th edition. Confirm hall and booth details in the official buyer guide before travelling, since floor plans change between phases.
Why the Apparel Phase Matters for Jacket Programs
A winter jacket is decided by its inputs: shell, insulation, lining, zips, cord stoppers and labels. The apparel halls let you handle them side by side rather than reading spec sheets. That matters most for down and puffer programmes, where fill power and baffle construction decide the retail price point.
Use the visit to pressure-test a direction you have already chosen. If your AW2027 line leans toward lighter shells or matte finishes, bring that reference. Our AW2026/27 down and puffer trend review lists what western brands are actually ordering.
Four Things to Check on the Floor
1. Fill and traceability documents. Ask for the RDS scope certificate and the transaction certificate chain for the down you are quoted. A supplier who cannot produce the chain within a week is telling you something.
2. Fabric test reports. OEKO-TEX Standard 100 and REACH compliance should be shown as current reports with the fabric reference, not as a logo on a brochure.
3. Minimum order and sampling. Ask the real MOQ per style and colourway, and how long a sample takes. At Ginwenwear it is 50 pieces per style, sampled in 7-14 days.
4. Capacity window. A quote without a delivery window is not a quote. Ask which weeks are still open for AW2027 and when the factory stops taking new styles before Chinese New Year.
What to Do After the Show
The week after decides whether the trip was worth it. Shortlist three suppliers per category, send the same tech pack to each, and compare quotes on one basis: fill spec, shell fabric, trims, packing and Incoterms.
Then book production before the pre-Chinese New Year squeeze; our guide to the Chinese New Year 2027 production cut-off explains how the calendar compresses from December.
